Testing the new cat-friendly experience to open at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium.

While most cat lovers struggle to keep the cat out of the aquarium, this Aquarium is letting them in.

As more millenials are choosing pets over children, cat cafes are a growing global trend.  In Australia SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium decided to take a step further to launch a new experience not only for cat lovers, but for cat parents – the world’s first Cat Aquarium Experience. General Manager Steve Hinks says SEA LIFE decided to remove its strict no-cats policy to capture the popular trend and attract more millennial visitors to the Sydney Aquarium.

New Snorkeling Attraction

SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium will allow cats and their human parents, to stroll through the exhibits enjoying a variety of fish.  More intrepid explorers can have a Kitty Snorkel Experience in a specially designed cat tank.

Marine Biologists at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and Dr Kim Kendall, a Cat Vet from Sydney, helped to design the Kitty Snorkel Experience. Cats can follow the fish while swimming in a special glass pool located within the biggest Great Barrier Reef tank. Special life jackets designed by the Aquarium will keep cats warm and safe.

“Seeing fish swim stimulates cats and can send them into a euphoric trance. I expect demand for the Cat Aquarium and the Kitty Snorkel Experience will be extremely high,” says Dr Kim Kendall, co-designer of the new attraction.
