Diving Equipment and Marketing Association is an international organization dedicated to the promotion and growth of the recreational scuba diving and snorkeling industry. With more than 1,300 members, this non-profit, global organization promotes scuba diving through consumer awareness programs and media campaigns such as the national Be a Diver campaign; diver retention initiatives such as DiveCaching; and an annual trade-only event for businesses in the scuba diving, action watersports and adventure/dive-travel industries, DEMA Show.
Sea of Change Foundation Gala
In an on-going effort to support marine conservation and education, leaders of the scuba diving community will again unite in support of the Sea of Change Foundation Gala at this year’s DEMA (Dive Equipment Manufacturers’ Association) in Orlando Florida. All funds raised from this “ocean casual” gala event will go directly to support the Sea of Change Foundation’s 2020 marine conservation projects and graduate scholarships. In 2020, the foundation will again provide financial and logistic support for projects that create direct and measurable positive change for our oceans.
The Sea of Change Foundation, along with our generous sponsors – Aggressor Liveaboards, SSI, Platinum Pro Foundation, and Mares – is hosting the second annual Coral Reefs Forever Gala beginning at 6:30 p.m., Thursday November 14, 2018 in Room W311E-H at the Orange County Convention Center.
59th NOGI Awards
On November 14, 2019 the NOGI’s will be presented by the Academy of Underwater Arts and Science. This year celebrates the 59th NOGI Awards Ceremony held at the Rosen Center Hotel Ballroom C. The NOGI’s are considered the “Oscars of the Ocean” and this event is the premier opportunity for the underwater community to honor the contributions made by extraordinary people in all areas of underwater endeavors. This year’s honorees are: Jerry Greenberg, Eric Hanauer, Tom Neuman, MD, Wallace J Nichols, and Brian Skerry. Tickets for this black tie event are available while they last at the AUAS.
Annual Reaching Out Awards!
The 31th annual presentation of the Reaching Out Awards. Captain Spencer Slate and Armand “Zig” & JoAnn Zigahn are the 2019 Reaching Out Award recipients. The Dive Industry will celebrate at the 31st annual DEMA Award’s Party, taking place in Orlando, FL on November 15, 2019, to honor these recipients and reveal this year’s recipient of the Wave Makers Award. Wave Makers Award!
The recipient of the Wave Makers Award will be revealed at the 31st annual DEMA Award’s Party, taking place in Orlando, FL on November 15, 2019. The Wave Makers Award was first introduced in 2017 and aims to recognize professionals who have been working in the industry for five years or less and have made a significant contribution to the industry during that time. 2020 Women Divers Hall of Fame Inductees & Tropical Dreams
Although the 2020 Women Divers Hall of Fame nominees will not be inducted until Beneath the Sea in New Jersey in March 2020, the DEMA show is an opportunity for attendees to meet many of these amazing women.
Meet the women of diving in person at the WDHOF signature event, Tropical Dreams and Paradise Sunsets on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 • 7:30-10:30 pm at the Rosen Center Hotel, in Orlando Florida. The Women Divers Hall of Fame ™ (WDHOF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring and raising awareness of the contributions of outstanding women divers. WDHOF provides educational, mentorship, financial, and career opportunities to the diving community throughout the world.
WDHOF Scholarships & Training Grants
Tropical Dreams & Paradise is an annual fundraiser to support the 44 WDHOF scholarships and training grants that are available to women and men. Application deadline for these programs is Nov 5, 2019. Each year, WDHOF awards scholarships and training grants that provide financial and educational support to individuals of all ages, particularly those who are preparing for professional careers that involve diving.
